Fast-talking New Yorker and brand new doctor Zoe Hart has it all figured out - after graduating top of her class from medical school, she'll follow in her father's footsteps and become a cardio-thoracic surgeon. But when her dreams fall apart, Zoe decides to accept an offer from a stranger, Dr. Harley Wilkes, to work with him at his small practice in Bluebell, Alabama. Bateman's first screen appearance was on television, in a small role during a 2013 episode of The Middle. She appeared in the pilot episodes of Maker Shack Agency and Mamma Dallas, neither of which went to series, and appeared in three episodes of The CW's comedy-drama series Hart of Dixie, playing the recurring role of Scarlett Kincaid during the 2015 season. On film, Bateman played Kayla in the science fiction horror film The Hive, which premiered at Fantastic Fest in September 2014. She played Teacup in the 2016 science fiction film The 5th Wave, and Nicole in the 2016 comedy film Nine Lives. Bateman played the lead character of Heidi DeMuth in the independent drama film So B.
