Basketball Wives is the original installment of the Basketball Wives reality television franchise. It premiered on April 11, 2010 on VH1 It chronicles the lives of a group of women who are the wives and girlfriends, or have been romantically linked to, professional basketball players in the National Basketball Association, though the title of the series does not make this differentiation, solely referring to the women as “wives”. For the first five seasons, the show was filmed in Miami, Florida, and beginning with season four, partially in New York City. VH1 announced the original series would return after a five-year hiatus with its sixth season to premiere on April 17, 2017. The setting of the show has relocated to Los Angeles, effectively combining the casts of the original series and Basketball Wives LA.

Jackie Christie Jackie, Wife of retired Los Angeles player Doug Christie. Jackie joined the cast in season 6. The series chronicles her family life, as well as her rivalries with the other “wives” including Tami Roman, Bonnie-Jill Laflin, and Evelyn Lozada. Her and Roman make amends during the sixth season as well as O'neal. Her rivalry with Lozada resulted in an altercation during the sixth season. The series also chronicles the relationships she shares with her daughters Takari Lee and Chantel Christie. During the sixth season Lee published a book about her life which raised some eyebrows about Christie's parenting. Takari plays a lead role in her rivalry with Lozada. Malaysia Pargo Malaysia Pargo ex-wife of Charlotte player Jannero Pargo. Malaysia joins the cast in season six. The series chronicles her adjustment to the group as well as her rivalries with Shaunie O'Neal andTami Roman. She later makes amends with Roman and O'Neal during the sixth season. rivalries are formed during the sixth season due to Pargo being best friends with Brandi Maxiell, who has issues with other wives within the group.
